Bread and molasses is where it all started. It was my first comfort food, served as dessert by my ♥ mom ♥ while watching cartoons at lunchtime. What could be better? Since then, I’ve graduated to peanut butter on toast with maple syrup (you have to try this!), but the idea remains the same: simple, comforting and delicious.
In addition to recipes from friends, family and my personal stash of innumerable cookbooks and notes, this blog will also include my experiences at the restaurants I love (or not…) in Montreal. I’m always on the lookout for a hot new place or hidden little gem to try out, and this city offers an endless supply.
I am also hoping to recruit foodies from my entourage as contributors. You know who you are! Don’t hesitate to drop me a note if you come across a great new recipe or restaurant.
Stay tuned and I hope you enjoy!

As I don’t really cook so much, I will dedicate myself to helping you with the ‘restaurant’ section of this blog. I too love to eat in new spots. I will make sure to add to your list whenever I can (if I wasn’t already with you for dinner
) Good luck Jess, this is awesome! Who knows, maybe you will turn me into a cook!
Thanks, Mare! Looking forward to my first dinner out on the town with you and Ben. How times change… But I love it. And I love the little guy even more. So, where to next?
So looking forward to reading this! It is exactly what I always need- new recipes and creative cooking ideas to keep my home menu new and exciting! Looking forward to the restaurant reviews as well so that I can put them to the test on my next visit to MTL! Great job Jess- but I might need you to provide me with an exercise plan after all this eating!
p.s. I’ll post some recipes from our cooking classes at the posada as soon as their up and running!
Yay! Thanks for the encouragement. Can’t wait for the mexican additions. Heard you guys were going to feature some more interesting items like homemade tortillas at the Posada Luna del Sur cooking classes. That’s great! Who wants another guacamole recipe anyways, right?
Hi there, your blog is a great source of local information, am going to check out OMMA in the next couple of days and also recently went to Nora Grey which was wonderful. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Mira! I’ve just visited your blog and I have to say, it’s quite interesting as well. Markets are indeed a great place to discover any city. Please come back and let me know what you thought of Omma and if their Bibimbap was anywhere near comparable to what you would have in Korea, where I am supposing you have been.
Cheers!
Bonjour M. McEachern,
